Simple Past Tense Nedir?

Simple Past Tense, geçmişte başlamış ve bitmiş olayları anlatmak için kullanılan zamandır.
Yani olay şu an devam etmiyorsa ve geçmişte tamamlandıysa bu zamanı kullanırız.

Örnek:

• I watched a movie yesterday. (Dün bir film izledim.)
• She visited her grandmother last week. (Geçen hafta anneannesini ziyaret etti.)
• We studied English in the evening. (Akşam İngilizce çalıştık.)

Simple Past Tense Ne Zaman Kullanılır?

Simple Past Tense genelde belli bir geçmiş zaman ifadesi ile kullanılır:

• yesterday (dün)
• last night / last week / last year
• two days ago / five minutes ago
• in 2019 / in 2005
• when I was a child

Örnek:

• They moved to Ankara in 2020.
• I met him two days ago.
• We played football yesterday.

Simple Past Tense Cümle Yapısı

1) Olumlu Cümle (Affirmative)

Özne + V2 + Nesne

• I worked yesterday.
• You watched TV.
• He cleaned his room.
• They played chess.

Not: Olumlu cümlede fiilin 2. hali (V2) kullanılır.

2) Olumsuz Cümle (Negative)

Özne + did not (didn’t) + V1 + Nesne

• I did not work yesterday.
• She didn’t watch TV.
• We didn’t play football.

En kritik kural: did veya didn't varsa fiil V1 olur.

3) Soru Cümlesi (Interrogative)

Did + Özne + V1 + Nesne?

• Did you work yesterday?
• Did he clean his room?
• Did they play chess?

Kısa cevap:

• Yes, I did. / No, I didn’t.
• Yes, she did. / No, she didn’t.

Düzenli Fiiller (Regular Verbs): -ed Kuralı

Düzenli fiillerde genelde fiile -ed eklenir.

• play → played
• watch → watched
• clean → cleaned
• open → opened

Yazım kuralları (kısa not)

• Fiil e ile bitiyorsa sadece -d gelir: live → lived
• Fiil ünsüz + y ile bitiyorsa y düşer, -ied olur: study → studied
• Kısa fiillerde bazen son harf çiftlenir: stop → stopped

Düzensiz Fiiller (Irregular Verbs): Ezber Gerektirir

Bazı fiiller -ed almaz. Bunlar düzensizdir.

Was / Were Kullanımı (To Be Fiili)

Simple Past Tense içinde am / is / are geçmişte was / were olur.

• Were they at the party?

Olumsuz

• I was not (wasn’t) tired.
• They were not (weren’t) happy.

was/were kullanırken did kullanılmaz.

Simple Past Tense’de En Sık Yapılan Hatalar

Hata 1: did ile V2 kullanmak

❌ Did you went there?
✅ Did you go there?

Hata 2: Olumlu cümlede V1 kullanmak

❌ I go to school yesterday.
✅ I went to school yesterday.

Hata 3: was/were ile did karıştırmak

❌ Did he was at home?
✅ Was he at home?

Hata 4: Zaman ifadesi ile zaman uyumsuzluğu

❌ I am tired yesterday.
✅ I was tired yesterday.

Simple Past vs Present Perfect (Kısa Karşılaştırma)

Bu konu çok karışır, kısa net fark:

• Simple Past: zaman belli / geçmişte bitmiş (I saw that movie yesterday.)
• Present Perfect: zaman belirsiz / etkisi şimdiye uzanır (I have seen that movie.)

Simple Past öğrenirken önce şuna odaklan: “Geçmişte oldu ve bitti mi?” → Evetse çoğunlukla Simple Past.
